The conference was organized to honor the memory of children who died as a result of artillery attacks by Ukrainian armed formations against the civilian population of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.
The event was attended by Anna Kuznetsova, the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Daria Morozova, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Maksim Grigoriev, the member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, Olga Kovitidi, the Senator of the Russian Federation, a representative from the executive body of state power of the Republic of Crimea, Rodion Miroshnik, The Ambassador of Lugansk People’s Republic to The Russia Federation, Eliseo Bertolasi, the Head of the Representative Center of the Donetsk People’s Republic in Italy, as well as other statesmen, representatives of public organizations, human rights defenders and members of charitable foundations. In addition, the inconsolable parents of the dead children shared their tragic stories.
During the conference, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of events for the "Remembrance Day of the children-victims of war in Donbass", the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People’s Republic Natalia Nikonorova gave her speech:
💬 “During the armed conflict just on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic, 130 children, whose dreams and hopes were cut off forever by the Kyiv regime, have died. These children could have continued to live, love, study, and become famous people, but this did not bother Ukrainian war criminals. On the contrary, for 8 years they have purposefully destroyed civilian infrastructure, including schools, and kindergartens, in order to take away the Donbass’s future. Another 515 children have received injures of various degrees of severity, who are forced to carry the "reminders" of this war with them for the rest of their lives.”
The Minister also added that the authorities of the Republic are making all necessary efforts to ensure that all those guilty of the bloody crimes committed will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
At the end of her speech, Natalia Nikonorova said it was decided a year later to install a memorial monument to the dead children of Donbass on the Alley of Angels. In this regard, the Republic initiates a competition for the best sketch of such a monument:
“To date, the installation of this memorial is the least we can do for the memory of the boys and girls who have left us forever. We hope for a response and participation in this competition of artists and designers from the Russian Federation, the fraternal republics of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, the Lugansk People's Republic, Kharkov, Kherson, and other regions.”
As a result, a resolution in which the conference participants call on the world community to immediately influence the political authorities of Ukraine, purposefully destroying civilian infrastructure facilities and using the civilian population of Donbass as a “human shield” was unanimously adopted. This document, with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, will be submitted to leading international organizations for the examination.
